About

My name is Aaron Hinton, and I’m a film director based in Utah. I’m also well-versed in editing, shooting, and color grading. I guess you could say I'm a jack-of-all-trades.

I began making films when I was about 9 years old. I started when I received the LEGO Studios Steven Spielberg Moviemaker Set as a gift from my mother. During my childhood, I spent countless hours creating many stop-motion LEGO animations with this wonderful set.

A few years later, in 6th grade, I made a documentary about my grandfather, Earl Martin. The film went on to win first place in Brigham Young University’s Hands on a Camera program.

In my junior high school and high school days, I continued my filmmaking passion by making my own Star Wars movies, VFX tests, and music videos. In my senior year of high school, I made a music video for Radiohead’s song Fitter Happier, which went on to win Best of Show at the Utah High School Film Festival.

I’m a graduate of Brigham Young University with a BA in Media Arts, and have worked in various capacities in the production of several award-winning films and television series, including The Next Door (2016), Studio C (2015-2016), and The Story Trek (2015-2016), to name a few. In early 2018 I won a Rocky Mountain Student Emmy for my editing work on Thorn, Thank You for Coming (2017), and worked as the DIT & assistant editor on the feature film The Other Side of Heaven 2: Fire of Faith (2019), as well as editor on the upcoming feature film Cryo (2022).
